Western roots.
A way of seeing.
Photographs by Erin Bernius
A working life.
A familiar landscape.
I grew up in Elko, NV, around horses and people whose lives were rooted in the West. The landscape matters to me, but so do the people who give it meaning.
These five photographs move from the wide view to the details: riders crossing sagebrush, gloves tucked into a back pocket, a rope lifting through the dust. Together, they tell more of the story than any single frame could.
People first.
Always.
I look for the gestures and expressions that make a photograph feel like the person in it. Sometimes that means stepping closer. Sometimes it means giving the moment room to unfold.
That approach carries into my weddings, portraits, and brand stories. I’m based in Fort Worth, Texas, with roots in Elko and Northern Nevada, and available to travel.
