Start with something that feels like you.

If you spend the whole session adjusting a sleeve or worrying about your shoes, it’s harder to settle in. Choose an outfit you can walk, sit, and move in comfortably. A favorite piece that fits well is a better starting point than something that feels like a costume.

Coordinate without matching.

Think about how everyone’s outfits look together. Choose a small mix of colors you already like, then vary the textures and shades. You can look connected without wearing the same outfit.

Let the setting have a say.

A downtown session and a walk through a field have different moods. Choose clothes that make sense for where we’ll be, and bring shoes you can comfortably walk in between photographs.

Keep the details simple.

Large logos and very busy patterns can pull attention away from faces. If you love a patterned piece, balance it with simpler clothes elsewhere. Jewelry, a meaningful hat, or a jacket you love can add personality without taking over.

Send me your ideas.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. Once we plan your session, you can send outfit options and we’ll talk through what works with the location and the feeling you want.
